About P K School
Who We Are?
P K Foundation is an Educational Trust established by Shri. Prataprao Khandebharad. The genesis of our Foundation lies in the noble thoughts of the founder for providing educational opportunities.
P K School for Special Children operates under the umbrella of P K Foundation, providing education to intellectually disabled children for more than a decade now.
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to and working towards the betterment and upliftment of intellectually disabled (mentally retarded) kids. The school was established in 2009 at Chakan, Pune to create a happy place for these kids where they will be happy as well as have growth and progress.
What We Do?
Intellectually disabled children are very special and so they need special teaching. In a way towards enriching the life of special children, we have various stages by which the potential of a child is enhanced gradually.
Children are categorized into different stages such as Pre-Primary Group, Primary Group and Secondary Group. Based on the group they are trained for Activities of Daily Living(ADL), introduced to literacy and numerics and exposed to the outside world.
Our focus at school is to make the child self-reliant in ADL, then move towards literacy and outside exposure. Alongside we also work on various abilities of the child through sports, physical activities, physiotherapy and speech therapy, all while making sure that the child is happy and in a healthy environment.
For 18+ students, the school has started a workshop where the students are taught technical and semi-technical skills along with agriculture/farming where they get a platform to learn these skills and earn through it.

थेट अंतःकरणापासून
एकच प्याला!
हात आहे तर पाय नाही, पाय आहे तर हात नाही. कित्येकांना जागचं हलतासुद्धा येत नाही. कान असून ऐकता येत नाही. डोळे आहेत, तर दृष्टी नाही. मतिमंदांना तर मन आणि मेंदू असला तरी त्यात वैचारिक प्रगल्भता नाही. अशा अवस्थेत यांचं मन थाऱ्यावर कसं राहणार ? नैसर्गिकपणे ज्यांचं मन थाऱ्यावर नसतं त्यांचं सर्वच वाऱ्यावर जाण्याची शक्यता असते. मग सुजान, सूज्ञ समाजाने यांना वाऱ्यावर सोडायचं?
मुळात माणूस सुखात जगण्यासाठी तनाने, मनाने व धनाने समर्थ असावा लागतो. यांच्याकडे यातील विशेष असं काहीच नाही. समोर आहे फक्त दुःख. दुःखाचा काठोकाठ भरलेला प्याला. जीवनामध्ये भावनांचे रंगी बेरंगी असंख्य प्यालेच रिचविले जातात, पण ह्यांच्या प्याल्यातील एक घोटही पचविला जात नाही. हे त्यांचं दुर्दैवातील दुर्दैव!
गाडी, बंगला व ऐश्वर्य यांची कधीही, कुणाकडेही, काहीही मागणी नसलेला हा जगातील एकमेव घटक असावा. यांना कसल्याही संपत्तीची श्रीमंतीची तसेच कुणाकडूनही सर्वस्व दानाची अजिबात गरज नाही.
खरी गरज आहे ती फक्त वैयक्तिक व सामाजिक योगदानाची ! अपंग व्यक्तीप्रती जिव्हाळा ठे वणे हे प्रत्येकाचे कर्तव्य आहे. ते मानवतावादी व राष्ट्रीय कार्य असुन भारतीय संस्कृतीचे भूषण आहे.
